NOTA for Oklahoma Campaign announces day of state-wide
protests

The Oklahoma None of the Above Campaign
(www.nota4oklahoma.info) is holding a series of
peaceful demonstrations across Oklahoma on election
day, culminating with a major protest on the south
steps of the Oklahoma State capitol at 5 p.m.

The protests are designed to bring attention to the
injustice of Oklahoma's ballot access laws which give
voters fewer choices than any other state.

Participants include members of the Oklahoma
Libertarian, Green and Constitution parties, along
with supporters of independent candidate Ralph Nader.

Scheduled protest actions include:

(STATEWIDE) 7 a.m.-7 p.m. - Oklahoma voters are
encouraged to go to the polls to vote for state and
local races while leaving the Presidential ballot line
blank as a means of protesting the exclusion of third
party and independent choices

(TULSA) 12-1 p.m. - Ballot Access Protest at Free
Speech Corner (41st & Yale)

(MUSKOGEE) 2-3 p.m. - Ballot Access Protest at Free
Speech Corner (Main & Okmulgee)

(OKLAHOMA CITY) 5-7 p.m. - Ballot Access Protest on
the State Capitol's South Steps (NW 22nd & Lincoln)

(TULSA) 5-7 p.m. - Ballot Access Protest at Free
Speech Corner (41st & Yale)

Background:

* Oklahoma voters will be given only two choices for
President: George Bush and John Kerry.

* Oklahoma is one of only 5 states that do not allow
write-in votes.

* It is legal for Oklahoma voters to cast ballots that
do not indicate a selection for President. Such
ballots are called "undervotes."

* The number of undervotes cast will not be available
on election night but the State Election Board
secretary has said that the number will be available
on November 3rd.
